Mir Lifescience, the lifescience division of the South India based Mir Group, won first prize at the ?Bio-Accelerate? Live Business Plan competition held recently as part of the Bangalore INDIA BIO 2014 conference. Dr. Charusheila Ramkumar (MBBS, Ph.D), Chief Scientist of Mir Lifescience, who made the presentation on behalf of the company received the first prize, which includes a cash award of Rs.3 Lakhs and 50% rebate on rent at the bioincubation centre, from Shri S.R. Patil, Minister for Information Technology, Government of Karnataka in the presence of Nobel Laureate 2012 - Professor Sir John Gurdon, Kt D.Phil, D.Sc., FRS

Mir Lifescience is currently developing a panel of biomarkers that are combined together in a robust test known as ?OncoSense?, to enable oncologists make life-saving decisions in choosing the right combination of drugs for an individual cancer patient. Towards the end of 2014, Oncosense for ovarian cancer will be launched in India. A saliva-based test that will serve as a screening procedure for high-risk, oral cancer patients is also in the offing. Mir Lifescience plans to launch several first-of-a-kind tests in India at a price that is affordable to most cancer patients.
